The FIRA Autonomous Cars Race Challenge aims to advance research in intelligent driving by encouraging the development of autonomous driving algorithms. This virtual platform provides a realistic testing environment for autonomous driving systems without requiring physical vehicles.

This competition provides a structured platform for testing and refining autonomous vehicle technology. It contributes to advancements in AI-driven mobility solutions and offers participants an opportunity to develop and validate their innovations in a controlled environment.

SUB-CATEGORY

In this segment, teams develop autonomous driving algorithms to navigate checkpoints on a simulated racecourse. The car must efficiently follow the course while avoiding obstacles. Collisions result in disqualification.

 

This segment focuses on urban driving scenarios. Participants must implement AI-driven systems capable of recognizing traffic signs, maintaining lane discipline, stopping at intersections, and making navigation decisions based on real-world driving conditions.

 

Competition Mechanics

  • Teams implement software to control a simulated autonomous car.
  • The car utilizes image processing, LIDAR, and distance sensors for navigation.
  • Each team is allocated a limited timeframe to execute their algorithm during the challenge.
